LONDON: Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed heaped praise on Imad Wasim, Wahab Riaz and Shadab Khan after the trio led the team to a tense last-over win over Afghanistan.

Chasing a modest target of 236, Pakistan lost six wickets before Imad steadied the case and with help from Shadab and Wahab, led the team to victory and kept the semi-final hopes alive.

In a video message, Sarfaraz reviewed the match giving credit to Imad, Wahab and Shadab.

“We knew that if we stayed till the end and batted full 50 overs, Pakistan would win,” Sarfaraz said.

He said that Pakistan needed a couple of partnerships to win the match. “Imam and Babar gave us the first partnership and then Imad played brilliantly,” he said.

Sarfaraz further said that Wahab had a minor finger injury to his right hand and we asked him if he was 100 percent fit to play. “Wahab’s inning was as important as that of Imad for our victory,” he said.

The captain thanked fans for their support after Pakistan’s humiliating loss to India.
