The Qatari Emir has arrived in Islamabad after four years. He last came in 2015 when Nawaz Sharif was the prime minister and Mamnoon Hussain was Pakistan’s president.
A delegation of key ministers and high-ranking officials are part of the Emir’s entourage as he visits Pakistan for a two-day official trip.
The Qatari Emir will meet President Alvi as well and discuss ways to boost bilateral ties and economic relationship between the two nations.
“The two sides will discuss ways and means of building a robust and mutually beneficial economic partnership. During the visit, Pakistan and Qatar will sign MoUs/agreements for enhanced bilateral cooperation in different areas,” the Foreign Office had stated earlier.
Prime Minister Khan had visited Qatar in January. He had invited the Qatari Emir to visit Pakistan. In an Instagram post, Khan had announced that the Emir would announce an investment of $22 billion.
If this proves true, it would be even bigger than the investment promised by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.
