Never asked for NRO in eight years, says Zardari
ISLAMABAD: Former president Asif Ali Zardari said on Saturday that he had never asked for an NRO in eight years hence how could he ask for one now.
The former president was speaking to media representatives in Islamabad when he said that rumours of him asking for an NRO were useless.
“I have spent more than a decade in jail–I never asked for an NRO,” he said.
Zardari said that Prime Minister Khan should offer his opinions on the ‘Charter of Economy’ and then consult the opposition on it.
“When the prime minister offers his opinions then only the opposition can offer its views on it after consultation,” he said.
Other opposition parties have also urged the prime minister to reach out directly for the ‘charter of economy’.
The government has decided to set up a high-level parliamentary committee to suggest ways for taking the country out of the current economic crisis.
It was decided in a meeting between the prime minister and Speaker Asad Qaiser that the charter of economy committee would include members of all political parties and from the senate as well.
