Need to woo Akhtar Mengal to block ‘anti-people’ budget: Farhatullah
ISLAMABAD: PPP leader Farhatullah Babar has urged opposition parties to put up a united front in order to block what he described as anti-people budget of the PTI government.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Farhatullah Babar suggested that opposition parties woo BNP-M chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal to thwart the government’s bid to get the budget passed from the Parliament.
“This anti people budget must not be allowed to pass. It can be blocked easily if the opposition is united. Need to woo Akhtar Mengal by formally endorsing his demand to address enforced disappearances and other demands concerning Balochistan,” Babar tweeted, responding to Bilawal Bhutto’s tweet.
Earlier, PPP chairman BIlawal Bhutto termed Imran Khan’s mid-night address to the nation as coercion.
Terming the budget economic suicide, Bilawal said that the opposition cannot allow it to be passed from the parliament.
“PM’s panicked midnight address to the nation. Fearing he’ll be unable to pass PTIMF budget & his government will fall. Coercion will not work. No one with a conscious could vote to increase taxes, inflation & unemployment. This budget is economic suicide we can NOT let it pass,” Bilawal tweeted after PM’s address.
