FBR to take action against unregistered beauty parlours in Karachi
KARACHI: The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBR) sent notices to 500 unregistered beauty parlours across Karachi, on Saturday.
The government is intent on expanding the tax net across the country. Hence, a list of all beauty parlours in the country which could pay tax on income was created by t he bureau.
A report in the Express Tribune stated a source as saying that the business of beauty parlours and salons had increased over the years.
“The earnings of a large number of parlours and salon make them eligible to pay tax on income,” said the source. “Many such [expensive] parlours are still not under the tax net or paying a very minimal tax despite their huge earnings.”
Beauty salons and parlours often charge clients a huge sum of money. On special occasions such as Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha, Mehndis and other wedding functions, these parlours charge a whopping amount.
