LONDON: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa arrived in London on an official visit on Thursday, according to the ISPR.

The ISPR stated that the army chief was expected to hold meetings with the civil and military leadership of the UK.

“COAS arrived at London, UK on official visit. Will interact with senior British Civil-Military leadership to discuss matters of mutual interest including evolving geo-strategic environment, defence and security,” tweeted Major General Asif Ghafoor, DG ISPR.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is already in the UK where he held a meeting with British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt. The two had met as part of the 4th review of Pakistan-UK Enhanced Strategic Dialogue.

The last time that the army chief had visited the UK in October 2018, he had said that Pakistan was ready to take ties between Pakistana and the UK to ‘the next level’.
