Pakistani singer and actor Ali Zafar said on Tuesday that he submitted evidence against Twitter accounts and tweets that were ‘part of the smear campaign’ against him.

The Teefa in Trouble singer took to Twitter to thank fans who had supported him in identifying the accounts and tweets that were part of the smear campaign.

He said that partaking in a smear campaign was punishable for three years in prison.

“I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the love, support & help in identifying all accounts and tweets that were a part of the smear campaign. Complete case with evidence handed over to the FIA. Punishment for the same goes to 3 years in jail #cybercrime,” he tweeted.

Ali Zafar has claimed that Meesha Shafi, her lawyer Nighat Dad and others loyal to the singer have been proactively tweeting against him as part of an organised smear campaign.

Zafar has claimed in the past that Meesha Shafi and others have been abusing him on social media and defaming the actor using fake accounts.

Nighat Dad, Meesha Shafi and others have denied accusations.

The conflict between Meesha and Zafar began when the former accused the latter of sexually harassing her on more than one occasion.

Zafar denied the accusations and filed a defamation suit against Shafi.
