Vawda distributes Rs30m among 1,000 under employment scheme

The federal minister attended a cheque-distribution ceremony where he said that the purpose of the ‘Self-Employment Scheme was to provide business opportunities for the jobless in his constituency.

In phase 1, Rs30 million will be distributed among 1,000 constituents of NA-249,” he said.

Vawda compared his scheme to others such as the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) saying that his was better than them.

“Instead of lining up to get cash every month, this scheme gives you employment opportunities so that you stand on your own feet and earn for yourself via business,” he said.

Vawda said that the amount will be provided to the people as an interest-free loan. He said that the PTI was helping people earn through business sans interest and helping the people in tune with Islamic teachings.

Punjab Government Spokesperson Shahbaz Gill had earlier stated that the funds used by Vawda had not been taken by the federal or provincial governments. He said that Vawda and other philanthropists had pitched in for the scheme.

The federal minister started tending on Twitter after he announced the scheme.
