Three-day Chilim Jusht festival kicks off in Kalash valley

KALASH: A three-day festival Chilim Jusht got under way in Chitral’s Kalash valley on Wednesday.

In a series of tweets, the ruling PTI said that on the first day, the elderly Kalash women and children distributed milks and yogurt of goats and sheep among the children for drinking and eating.

This rite is commonly known as Cherak Peepe.

Tourists from Germany, France, Japan and elsewhere in world have arrived Kalash valley and are enjoying the popular festival.

According to the PTI, the tourists are provided brochures, pamphlets, maps and other informative materials and guidelines about the local culture and traditions and l scenic attractions.

The KP Government has set up a tent village to facilitate tourists.

Kalash people wear new dresses and prepare various dishes to welcome spring to mark the event.

One of the most popular features of festival is selection of life partner for unmarried boys and girls.

The event culminates with loving couples tying knot.
