At least eight die in Lahore suicide blast
LAHORE: At least eight people, including three Elite Force officers, have been killed and several others wounded in a suicide blast in Lahore on Wednesday morning, police said.
The blast took place near an Elite Force vehicle that was parked at gate No 2 of the Data Darbar.
The security vehicle was fully damaged in the blast that also smashed windowpanes of many nearby buildings.
According to SSP City, the nature of the explosion is being determined but it appears to be a suicide blast.
Police said that the Elite Force vehicle was the target of the bomber whose body parts have been recovered from the blast site.
A police officer told media that the death toll could go up as some of the injured were in critical injured. He said that three police officers, including a security guard and one civilian have been martyred.
Two martyred policemen were identified as Saleem and Shahid.

Large numbers of police and rescue officials reached the scene of the blast and cordoned off the area.
The injured are being rushed to Mayo Hospital, where emergency has been declared.
This comes hours after thousands of people greeted Nawaz Sharif as he moved back to jail to complete his sentence after the expiry of his bail on medical grounds.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar condemned the blast and ordered a probe.
The chief minister has directed officials to extend best possible medical support to those injured in the terrorist attacks.
According to government sources, the chief minister has postponed his visit to Bhakkar and Sheikhupura and called an urgent meeting to discuss law and order.
In a statement, Prime Minister Imran Khan also condemned the Data Darbar blast and expressed his grief over loss of lives.
