Pakistan television actresses Saboor Aly and Saheefa recently met with a backlash on posting a video of a staffer cleaning a window as social media users criticised them for making a mockery and influencing classism.

The video circulating on social media was taken from Saboor Aly’s Instagram stories in which the two actresses can be seen laughing and commenting “Kya kya khwab leke iss ki maa ne is ko ghar se bejha tha” while co-star Affan Waheed remained reluctant in contributing to their humor.

Although Saboor Aly came forward to clarify her stance, stating that the staffer was their assistant director with whom they often joked with, social media users did not find her justification reasonable.

This video went viral on social media, it’s the #SaboorAly Instagram story and trolling on window cleaner guy ! It wasn’t intentionally created but as Saboor says he is our AD assistant director and we used to make fun each other . But dear Saboor what if he or any one else could make such video of yours with out permission and post on their Instagram what will your reaction ??? You are giving reference of Quran means you are Justifying rather than accepting you made a mistake by recording such video ! And is this assistant director job to clean window or serve tea on set ??? You are dragging director and the team as well ! Do not teach us how to report and make news Focus on your acting and talk sensible even if it’s a joke . If this was inside joke then why you showed on social media ! But what we see in this video #Affanwaheed talks so sensible “Mehnat Kar Raha hai”.

In a lengthy post on social media, Saboor Aly addressed all her critics about the inside joke.

“No where have we called him a window cleaner or made fun of any specific profession. What was an inside joke with an individual, has been portrayed as an insult of the profession which was never the intention nor a fact even in the content that’s still on my social media. Frankly these are just not the values I have been brought up with.”

“All I will humbly say in the end is – next time you point your finger on someone’s actions or words – especially when you are looking at them in isolation and not the whole picture – think and be responsible. Don’t just do it for the followers, likes, and engagement.”

Saheefa also came forward expressing disbelief in being able to convince the critics.

“I’ll fail, I’ll miserably fail, but I won’t be able to clear the air and explain my side out,” she wrote on her Instagram.
