Bill seeking South Punjab province approved for debate in NA

ISLAMABAD: A resolution seeking constitutional amendment for the establishment of South Punjab province was approved for debate in the National Assembly on Monday.
PML-N opposed the bill which was supported by the ruling PTI and opposition PPP .
Tabled by PTI MNA Makhdoom Syed Sami ul Hasan Gilani, the motion called for debate on creation of South Punjab province.
The bill was approved with a simple majority.
Opposition parties seemed divided on the issue on the issue of South Punjab. While PPP is supporting the South Punjab province, PML-N is against it.
PML-N members argue that two new provinces – Bahawalpur and South Punjab – should be made in Punjab.
