Pakistan army awards death sentence to retired brigadier, doctor for spying
RAWALPINDI: Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday approved the death sentence to a retired army officer and a civilian and rigorous imprisonment to one army officer on charges of “espionage/leakage of sensitive information to foreign agencies prejudice to the national security.”
According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations on Thursday, the two army officers were tried under Pakistan Army Act (PAA) and Official Secret Act by separate Field General Court Marshal (FGCM) for separate cases

- Retired Lieutenant General Javed Iqbal – Awarded 14 years rigorous imprisonment.
- Retired Brigadier Raja Rizwan – Awarded Death Sentence.
- Doctor Wasim Akram (Employed at Sensitive Organisation) – Awarded Death Sentence.
In a video statement released by the ISPR, Pakistan army chief spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor confirmed that two officers were arrested and court-martial-ed for leaking sensitive information to foreign intelligence agencies.
