Indian troops martyr Burhan Wani’s associate Zakir Musa
PULWAMA: Indian troops gunned down freedom fighter Zakir Musa, a close associate of Burhan Wani, on Pulwama district on Friday.
Zakir Musa was a well-known freedom fighter and a close associate of Burhan Wani, who was martyred by Indian security forces three years ago.
His killing sparked protests in many areas of occupied Kashmir, including Tral and adjoining areas. Scores of people took to the streets in occupied Kashmir to protest his killing.
Internet and mobile phone services were suspended by Indian security forces after news spread of his martyrdom and the agitation began. Schools and colleges across the valley have also been shut down.
A crisis in India-Pakistan relations emerged three years ago when Indian security forces martyred Burhan Wani.
Wani’s martyrdom three years ago created a row between India and Pakistan. Thousands of protesters took to the streets in occupied Kashmir when Wani was martyred.
Indian security forces used pellet guns on unarmed Kashmiri protesters. More than 100 were martyred while thousands were injured in the clashes.
Islamabad campaigned against New Delhi’s atrocities in Kashmir and won considerable support for the Kashmiris at the United Nations.
