Sherry urges PTI to clarify position on Sindh governor’s remarks
ISLAMABAD: Senator Sherry Rehman has urged the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to clarify its position regarding remarks made by Governor Imran Ismail on Sindh’s division.
Taking to Twitter on Thursday, Sherry said the Governor House speaks for the federal government and therefore, PTI should clarify its position on where its stands on the federation.
The PPP senator said that the people would not allow the division of Sindh.
She also called for Governor Imran Ismail to apologize, retract his remarks or leave the office.
“In what capacity is the Governor Sindh speaking of dividing Sindh?His office speaks for the federal Govt so PTI should clarify its position on where it stands on this federation.We the people are not going to allow any of this.He needs to apologise and retract or go. #senatetoday,” she said.
Meanwhile, in a tweet on Wednesday, Ismail claimed that his comments were taken out of context.
The governor said he believes in public friendly governance and that “[the issue of] unity of Sindh was reflected in the prime minister’s activities and the manifesto of the party.”
“Jeevay Sindh, Jeevay Pakistan [long live Sindh, long live Pakistan],” the governor concluded.
