‘Committee formed to resolve moon-sighting controversy’, tweets Fawad
Islamabad: Federal Minister of Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has formally constituted a committee that will finalize the calendar for exact moon-sighting dates of Eid, Ramadan and Moharram for next 5 years.
Fawad on his official Twitter handle posted and wrote “Ministry of Science and Technology committee to resolve moon-sighting controversy constituted.”

Notification issued by the ministry states that committee has been formed consisting of five officials including one Convener.
In the committee, four of the members are from SUPARCO and Meteorological department while one Joint Scientific Advisor of MoST who will be the Convener.
This initiative has been taken by the government to ensure 100% accuracy in the moon-sighting dates of important events of Muslim community.
