China assures full support to probe trafficking incidents

ISLAMABAD: Beijing has assured its full cooperation with the Pakistani authorities to thoroughly investigate the trafficking of Pakistani girls after Chinese government has reportedly taken notice of the news in media.

It is important to mention here that China has issued warning to the Pakistani and Chinese nationals to refrain from all forged illegal marriage counsellors.

A gang from Faisalabad has been unveiled whose objective is to work for human trafficking. Up till now, the gang has sent around 18 girls to China who are being subjected to violence and unwarranted work.

The authorities as part of a crackdown against foreigners involved in illegal activities in the country, arrested eight Chinese nationals from Lahore airport and other areas on the charges of trafficking young women to China after marrying them, Deputy Director FIA Jamil Ahmad Khan Mayo

According to the official, the suspects, with the assistance of Pakistani agents, contracted marriages with unsuspecting local girls and then trafficked them to China where the victims were forced into prostitution.

They said the suspects would send Rs50,000 each to families of the girls, who were trafficked and forced to perform all kinds of illicit and immoral activities by means of coercion including prostitution.

According to the official, the suspects, did all this with the assistance of Pakistani agents, contracted marriages.
