Ali Zafar takes to Insta to thank support amid row with Meesha Shafi
LAHORE: Singer and actor Ali Zafar took to Instagram on Sunday to express his gratitude for the support he had been receiving from his fans amid his legal fight with Meesha Shafi over allegations of workplace sexual harassment.
“When crime takes a new shape. Thank you all for being such a support. We must put an end to this and fight this so they can’t do this to anyone else be it a man or a woman. #crime #cybercrime,” Ali wrote on his Insta account.
His message came two days after the Channo singer was served with a Rs 2 billion damages legal notice by Meesha Shafi for his interviews and issuing statements.
Meesha sent the legal notice to Ali Zafar through her lawyer Hina Jillani in which she prayed that Ali Zafar had levelled false and baseless allegations against her in the media, including allegation that Meesha was doing all this to get the Canadian nationality whereas she has already got the Canadian nationality in 2016.
The notice further said that Ali Zafar had allegedly stated that Meesha was trying to copy Malala Yousafzai, who is only a national hero, and Ali Zafar’s alleged remarks tantamount to the insult of ‘our national hero’.
The notice called for an apology from Ali Zafar failing which he should pay Rs2 billion in damages.
Earlier last week, Ali Zafar said that he had won the legal battle against Meesha Shafi who had failed to show up in courts.
