KARACHI: Rain with thunder is predicted to lash the metropolis on Monday night and Tuesday, the director of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Monday.

Panic gripped when an intense dust storm hit the metropolis Sunday night, dispersing sand around the city as well as downing trees and poles in some areas.

MD Director Sardar Sarfaraz said, “Last night’s dust storm was stronger than expected. Winds blew at a speed of 65km/h and reduced the visibility to 500 metres.”

“Moderate rain with thunder is expected tonight and tomorrow morning in Karachi,” the PMD director stated.

Some parts of the city, including Gulshan Town as well as Orangi Town, observed drizzling in the morning.
