Indian wrestler gets walkover against Pakistan’s Inam Butt in Asian Wrestling Championship
Pak's Inam Butt misses Asian Wrestling Championship due to lack of funds
Pakistan wrestler Inam Butt losses his first bout against arch-rivals Indian wrestler Vicky Vijay as the Pakistani wrestler Inam Butt missed the Asian Wrestling Championship due to lack of funds.
According to details, Asian Wrestling Championship is currently underway in China where Pakistani wrestler Inam Butt was scheduled to wrestle his bout on Tuesday against India’s Vicky Vijay but the Indian wrestler got the walkover as Inam couldn’t participate.
While talking to a local news channel, Inam said“It is very heartbreaking and disappointing to lose an opportunity like this. I was confident to win the medal but it’s very unfortunate that due to lack of funds, I just couldn’t make it.”.
“We didn’t get any funds, there were no funds for training camps but we got training in our local akhaaras and then we didn’t get funds for travelling,” he added.
It is worth mentioning here that Inam is Pakistani most successful athlete as he was the country’s only gold medalist in Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Inam was also conferred with pride of performance award by the government of Pakistan earlier this year.
