Dr Asim condemns Quetta bomb blast, calls on govt to take action

KARACHI: Former petroleum minister and Chairman Higher Education Commission Sindh (HEC) Dr Asim Hussain condemned the Quetta bomb blast that claimed the lives of 16 people, on Friday.

Dr Asim condemned the terrorist attack via a tweet, saying that terrorism ‘has no place in any society’.

“Another day, another tragedy. I condemn the blast at Quetta’s Hazarganji Fruit Market.16 innocent people lost their lives. I hope the government takes serious action against the perpetrators as terrorism has no place in any society,” he tweeted.

Quetta bomb blast

At least 16 people, including eight members of the Shia Hazara community died and scores were injured when a bomb went off at a vegetable market in Quetta on Friday morning.

Abdul Razzaq Chaeem, a senior police official, told media that 16 people had perished in the terrorist attack that struck Hazarganji Sabzi Mandi at around 7:30am.

A Frontier Constabulary officer was also among the victims.  Thirty others were injured and were undergoing treatment, he added.

According to the police, the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) that had been hidden in the market, he informed.

Four FC personnel were also among the injured.
