LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has ordered a court to decide the Meesha Shafi and Ali Zafar defamation case in 90 days.

Justice Masood Jahangir suspended the order by the District Judge to direct the trial court judge to conclude Ali Zafar’s defamation case by April 15.

Ali Zafar had filed a petition via his counsel at the additional district and sessions court to dispose his defamation plea against Meesha Shafi.

Increasing the time limit of the decision of the case by three months, Justice Mansoor said that Meesha Shafi’s legal team was at liberty to see a further extension.

After Meesha Shafi leveled accusations of sexual harassment against Ali Zafar, the latter slapped a defamation suit against the former under the Defamation Ordinance 2002. Ali Zafar has always denied he harassed Meesha Shafi and claims that he’s innocent of all charges.

Ali Zafar’s counsel had pleaded with the court not to grant Meesha Shafi and her lawyers more than a month as the precious time of the court was wasted.

He had urged the court to decide the case within the next 30 days as it had already been a year since the case was filed.
