Anti-polio drive resumes amid tight security after lady staffer killed
CHAMAN: The nationwide anti-polio campaign drive continued on Friday amid tight security after a female staffer was killed in a tragic attack on the polio team.
One female staffer, identified as Nasreen, was killed and another woman injured after unknown men opened fire on the anti-polio team on Thursday.
The funeral prayers were attended by top district officials and political leaders at a local graveyard.
According to Levies officials, a case has been registered with Counter Terrorism Department police station on charges of attempted terrorism, murder, attempted murder and other related offences.
The campaign resumed after a meeting, headed by District Commissioner Shafqat Anwar Shahwani, discussed significant and security measures in conducting the national counter-polio drive on Friday.
