Ali Zafar thanks Meesha Shafi on Twitter after her interview
Pakistani singer and actor Ali Zafar thanked Meesha Shafi on Twitter for speaking publicly for the first time on TV about a sexual harassment case.
The Meesha Shafi-Ali Zafar row is far from over, it seems. A day after Ali Zafar appeared on Geo News and broke down on national TV, Meesha Shafi did the same.
Meesha had claimed that Ali Zafar had harassed her during a jam session. After the session, Ali alleged that Meesha had sent a thank you text to him on a WhatsApp group.
“What was she so thankful to me for on the group? Was she grateful for me harassing her?” he claimed, stating that the text had been submitted in court as evidence that he was not guilty.
Meesha Shafi was asked on Shahzeb Khanzada’s show about the text. The singer acknowledged that she had indeed sent that text which included the sentence “Thank you to Ali for saying those wonderful things onstage for me.”
“I wanted to end my association with him on a very professional way,” she said, referring to the text.
Ali Zafar took to Twitter and thanked Meesha Shafi.
“She just won me my case. #ThankYouMeesha :)” tweeted Ali Zafar

Meesha had said that Ali Zafar wanted to apologize to her initially when she spoke to his people about harassment.
Meesha Shafi said that she was supposed to work on a project with Ali Zafar. However, she alleged that he had harassed her twice in the past.
“I had made a promise to myself—that I would never put myself in such a vulnerable position ever again,” she said.
Meesha said that she spoke to Ali Zafar through his representatives before coming out with the allegations.
“I did try every other option to ensure that the issue went away quietly,” she said. “The public will only know about the tweet. They don’t know that I spoke to his people too,” she added.
Meesha said that she and Ali Zafar had to work on a project together. She dreaded that because of her past experience with the singer.
“I spoke to his representatives and told them about the harassment,” she said.
According to Meesha, Ali Zafar’s representatives came back with a reply from the singer.
“He (Ali Zafar) wanted to know if I would accept an apology,” she said. “I told them (Ali Zafar’s representatives) that I hadn’t thought about it but we could work on that,” she added.
