Punjab eyes Pakistan Cup 2019 title
LAHORE: Skipper of Punjab cricket team, Kamran Akmal has backed his squad’s potential of winning the Pakistan Cup 2019 trophy, which will kick off from April 2 at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.
While talking about his squad, the wicket-keeper batsman said “We have a well-balanced squad, have a good combination for the tournament, and we really want to perform well for our Punjab team.”
According to details, Federal Areas will defend the title, while Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are the other competing teams in the 11-day tournament. All matches will be played at the Pindi Cricket Stadium at 02:00pm PST, with the top two sides from the single-league competition progressing to the April 12 final.
Punjab are searching for their maiden Pakistan Cup title. Punjab reached 2016 final but fail to clinch the title.
Kamran Akmal observed Punjab had an explosive batting line-up that could provide a stiff challenge to the opposition bowling attacks.
“I feel we have some quality performers in the batting department. Khurram Manzoor, Sami Aslam, Iftikhar Ahmed and Fahad Iqbal give batting a good shape with their experience and pedigree, I really like the combination and I hope the batsmen will deliver for us,” the wicketkeeper/batsman said.
