ISLAMABAD: Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam took his nation’s media to task for glorifying war and provoking retaliation.

“This is a very critical time for our country. I am not in support of yudh (war). I will never support it. But now when it is happening, we have to support it,” Nigam told local media.

“I would like to say one thing here to you guys (media). Stop bursting firecrackers from the first ball. This was the first time it happened (air strikes) and you started yelling India, India,” he said.

“Everyone is tweting, enraging the other side,” he said.

He advised Indian media as well as journalists to be civil in their discourse and to “not celebrate winning at the first ball.

“Let [your oppponent] take a shot first,” he stressed. “If you tease, they are going to tease you back.”
Nigam said that the one thing this country lacks is mature and sensible media.
