ISLAMABAD: Pakistan army chief spokesman Maj-Gen Asif Ghafoor commended the nation for its unwavering support to armed forces and law enforcement agencies (LEAs).

The DG ISPR shared a photo of National Stadium on Twitter, referring to the security improvement the country has witnessed over the last one decade following multiple military operations against terrorist groups.

10 years back in March 2009, a group of terrorists attacked the bus of visiting Sri Lankan team on its way to bus. The Sri Lankan miraculously survived the attack due to heroic act of the driver.

This led to Pakistan’s isolation in cricket world as the team was forced to play their home series at neutral venues in UAE and other countries.

“All praises for Almighty Allah. Achievements thus far made possible by unwavering support of the resilient Pakistani Nation for their Armed Forces & LEAs,” Ghafoor tweeted.

But owing to military offensives, security environment in the country has improved significantly, paving way for the return of international cricket.

The National Stadium is currently hosting the playoffs and eliminators of the fourth edition of Pakistan Super League.

The final will be played on Sunday, March 17.
