Two dead, several injured as three-storey building collapses in Karachi’s Malir
Rescue operation underway
In an unfortunate incident today morning, a three-storey residential building collapsed in Jaffer Tayar Society of Malir area in Karachi which resulted into the death of two persons while several others sustained severe injuries, police and rescue sources said.
According to details, during the rescue operation, one body was found from the rubble of the dilapidated building while three others were saved by the rescue officials in an injured condition.
Local area people are also assisted the fire and rescue teams in their ongoing operation.
Sources disclosed that a total of 20 people comprising of three families were residing in the building which was 30 years old.Whereas one of the family was not inside the building at the time of the incident.
According to police officials, one boy Shahzain has been safely recovered from the rubble of the collapsed building during the rescue operation. But his father Hassan Abbas had lost his life in the incident.
Moreover, it is feared that several others are still under the debris, said rescue officials.
Meanwhile DG Sindh Building Control Authority, Iftikhar Qaimkhani has directed the concerned officials to conducted the inquiry of the sad incident.
Governor Sindh Imran Ismail while talking to a private TV channel said that illegal construction mainly takes place with the involvement of Building Control Authority.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority must take swift action immediately, said Ismail.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also took notice of the incident and directed Karachi commissioner to supervise the entire rescue operation.
