PSL 2019: Karachi Kings defeat Multan Sultans in thriller
DUBAI: Karachi Kings won their debut match of PSL 2019 by defeating Multan Sultans in a thriller, edging out the Sultans by seven runs, on Friday.
It was a much-needed win for the Karachi Kings, who have never qualified for the final of the Pakistan Super League.
Mohammad Amir was the pick of the Karachi Kings bowler, who picked up four important wickets to put the Kings in a commanding position earlier in the match. Amir finished with figures of 4/25 from his four overs.
The other Karachi Kings pacer, Sohail Khan, managed to grab two important wickets in the last over of the match that made the difference.
Multan Sultans looked menacing and at one point, it seemed they would chase down Karachi Kings’ total of 183 runs but it was Sohail who took two scalps to ensure that important deliveries were missed and the Kings secured the victory.
Powerful half-centuries by the man in form, Babar Azam and Livingstone, helped Karachi Kings reach 183 runs from their 20 overs.
CJ Green racked up the most wickets from Multan Sultans as he took three scalps, followed by Junaid Khan and Russell who took one wicket each.
Multan face Islamabad on Saturday, February 16 and Karachi face Lahore on the same day.
