Dawn imposes 40pc cut in staff wages, Geo employees go on strike
The Dawn Media Group, publishers of Dawn newspaper and monthly Herald has decided to impose a 40 percent cut in salaries of staffers, it was learnt on Friday.
According to sources, the decision will come into effect from February 1, 2019. A circular in this regard was issued to employees of the organization in which it was said that it was becoming difficult to sustain recurring deficits.
The media group’s DawnNews channel has sacked several employees recently citing financial crunch.
On the other hand, all bureaus of Geo News including OSR, Sports and Business desks along with Digital Media went on strike due to non-payment of salaries since the last four months.
