Major power breakdown hits Sindh as national grid trips

KARACHI: People in the metropolis witnessing massive power outages since morning today due to feeder tripping in national grid where 11 units of Guddu Thermal Power Plant became inoperative.

According to details, these feeders tripped due to changing weather conditions and heavy fog resulting into the immediate shortage of 747MW of electricity.

Areas in Karachi including Korangi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Saddar, Mehmoodabad etc were without electricity since morning today.

Electricity transmission Company K-Electric also tweeted about this power outage on its official Twitter handle saying “Due to tripping in National Grid, power supply is affected in most parts of Sindh including Karachi.”


In another updated Tweet, K-Electric spokesman said “Power situation in the city is expected to improve significantly in the next 3 to 4 hours.”

Another Tweet of K-Electric mentions “Electricity has been restored in Korangi, Baldia, Gizri, Landhi, Saeedabad and Hub.”
