LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan has apologized for his offensive response to a journalist, which prompted a strong protest by the media workers.

When asked to respond on the Jamat-e-Islami chief’s statement alleging that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s promise of turning the country into Madinah state was baseless, Chohan told the journalist that he should feel ashamed for asking such question.

Journalists staged a protest on Chohan’s arrival at the dice.

The provincial information minister in his clarification said that he had given the uncalled for reaction because he was going through troubled times as his wife was admitted in Services Hospital.

“Before I went on stage to speak in the memorial, my driver passed me a chit in which it was said that your wife was admitted to Services Hospital in an unconscious stage,” he said.

“It was a very tensed moment for me, so I gave my response in light to it. If someone is offended by my response I apologise for my words.

The journalists, present on the occasion, accepted his explanation.
