Pulitzer prize-winning author author Laurie Garrett has commended Pakistan’s health workers who reached out to children during nationwide anti-polio drive in the country’s snow-hit mountain area.

“What a valiant health worker, trudging through waist-deep snow to reach children in a remote mountain area with #polio #vaccines,” the American journalist tweeted.

While praising the Pakistani polio vaccinators, She also questioned the performance of health officials in Washington and Oregon.

Meanwhile, health officials in Washington & Oregon struggle to get people in fine weather to vax their kids for #measles.

Her tweet came in response to a video which showed a polio worker walking through waist-deep snow to reach out to children in Swat. Their video was widely shared on social media, as users were touched by the dedication.

“Jee his name is Irfan Ullah & the man making his video is Mumtaz Ali. Both are part of Mobile Team Bahrain (Swat). They have been invited to PM office tomorrow (Wednesday) for Lunch,” Babar Atta, Focal Person to PM Imran Khan, tweeted.
