She was murdered on October 15, 2018
Indian model Mansi Dixit was murdered for saying no to sex, according to Bangur Nagar police.
According to police, the 20-year-old model was murdered by aspiring photographer Syed Muzammil, 19, who invited her to his house on the pretext of taking pictures and then attempted to have sex with her.
“I called her on the pretext of a photoshoot and demanded to have sex with her. When she refused, I hit her on the head with a wooden stool,” he was quoted as saying to the police during interrogation.
After she became unconscious, Muzammil molested her and attempted to rape her. He then strangled her to death with a lace and a rope.
Police have collected swabs and semen samples from his clothes. According to the postmortem report, an abrasion was found from Dixit’s private parts.
He wrapped the body in a bag and booked a cab. When the driver became suspicious and asked why the bag was so heavy, he cancelled the ride.
“He said four people were to ride and his brother had booked two Xylos,” said the driver.
He booked another cab and dumped the body by a footpath before fleeing in a rickshaw.
Muzammil’s family told the police that he had arrived from Hyderabad to Mumbai a day before the incident to visit a sick relative.
He was arrested from his Oshiwara apartment. Police will record statements from two other models who were approached by Muzammil.
