PM Khan suspends SNGPL, SSGCL board of directors over gas crisis
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan suspended the board of directors of state-owned gas companies SNGCL and SNGPL due to the prevalent gas crisis in Sindh, on Thursday.
The prime minister had ordered an investigation into the gas crisis that had caused problems for commuters and factory workers in Sindh.
Sindh Government had closed CNG stations for an indefinite period on Wednesday after gas supply to the province was shut.
A notification for the suspension of the board of directors will be issued by the petroleum division today.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had constituted a fact-finding committee regarding the matter. The committee will share its findings against the board of directors in 72 hours and present it to the prime minister.
Petroleum Minister Ghulam Sarwar had put the blame on state-pwned gas companies SNGPL and SSGCL in a meeting over the gas crisis.
Neither the SNGPL had informed about the actual demand of gas for December nor SSGCL informed about faults in the compressors, said petroleum minister while briefing the meeting.
