ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has launched what is being described by the PTI government as Pakistan’s biggest cleanliness and plantation movement.

The initiative dubbed “Clean Green Pakistan” is part of an effort to spread awareness about healthy lifestyle and the growing threat of climate change.

The prime minister kick started the campaign by planting a tree at a college in the capital city of Islamabad.

“We have planted 1 billion trees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. We now want to replicate the project in rest of the country,” Khan told students.

He said that Pakistan needed to pay more attention to cleanliness and environment to save the future generations.

The government has joined hands with several environmental groups to make the initiative a huge success.

Last month, the government had also launched “Plant for Pakistan” drive under PTI’s 10 billion tsunami tree plantation program.

Millions of saplings were planted across the country under the campaign which will continue for five years.
