In NA, Shehbaz Sharif slams “unholy” alliance between PTI, NAB
ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has lashed out at what he called an unholy alliance between the ruling PTI and National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
“For the first time, an opposition leader has been arrested without any charge,” Shehbaz Sharf told the house, where he made his return on the production order of Speaker Asad Qaiser. “I want to talk about an unholy alliance between the PTI and NAB,” he said.
He said that he had openly and repeatedly made it a point in his election campaign that there was a nexus between PTI and NAB.
“Fake cases were lodged against us under terrorism charges and its only objective was to influence the outcome of recently-held by-elections,” he said
Sharif recalled that his old friend Sheikh Rashid had said that he would land in jail soon.
The opposition said that PTI’s defeat on seats won by Imran Khan in the general election had proved that this was a fraudulent election.
“It has never happened that a ruling party loses its seat just two months after coming into power. The seats vacated by Imran Khan has been won by us,” he said.
He warned that the democratic system would suffer a major setback if something was not done to stop victimization of political leadership. He also lamented that elderly teachers were brought to courts in handcuffs.
“I also thank Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and leaders of MMA, ANP and National Party for getting National Assembly Speaker to issue my production order,” he said.
